The survey for the Global Perspectives Barometer 2012 has just started. Created in collaboration with Credit Suisse, the online survey aims to find out what moves the younger generation. Each year, students are given the opportunity to share their thoughts on the most urgent issues of our time and on their future plans.
The deadline for the St. Gallen Wings of Excellence Award 2012 has passed. We would like to take the opportunity to thank all the applicants for their contributions. As from now on, we start to review them and are very excited to read about the young generation’s thoughts on “Facing Risk”. All applicants will be contacted by spring 2012 in order to let them know how the jury has decided.
In addition to our continuously growing list of speakers of the 42nd St. Gallen Symposium, another list has been published featuring the Topic Leaders, who have distinctive knowledge and a strong connection to this year’s topic and therefore ensure vibrant discussions. They cover an important role in the symposium’s programme since they are the ones guiding the dialogue between the Leaders of Today and the Leaders of Tomorrow and therefore bridging generations.
Still, this is only an excerpt of the Topic Leaders attending the 42nd St. Gallen Symposium. Therefore, it will be updated constantly.
Michel Liès has been appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of Swiss Re. He is going to take up the post by February 2012. As speaker at the 41st St. Gallen Symposium, Michel Liès gave interesting insights into the new challenges in the insurance business and proposed public private partnerships to cope with the upcoming problems in a world that is dominated by risk. The International Students’ Committee (ISC) is glad to count on Swiss Re as one of the Main Partners of the St. Gallen Symposium.
The ISC sincerely congratulates Michel Liès on this honourable appointment and wishes him all success for the new challenging task.
In just 17 days, on 1 February 2012 the window for applying for a participation as a Leader of Tomorrow in the 42nd St. Gallen Symposium closes. The upcoming two and a half weeks offer students from all around the world the final chance to contribute their own perspective on “Facing Risk” and thereby qualify as a Leader of Tomorrow for the upcoming symposium.
Yesterday, 80 students and thought leaders attended the first Special St. Gallen Symposium Event which was held under the topic “Facing Risk: Singapore & Asia in the New Order of Global Hyper Volatility” at the University Town Auditorium of the National University of Singapore (NUS).
The newly conceptualised Booklet contains all relevant information about this year’s topic, possibilities of participation and gives an overview on the general setup of the programme.
The Booklet can be downloaded via the link below.
The era of hyper volatility has been the unravelling story of geopolitics and the economy in recent times. How will the economies and societies of Asia adapt to these new trends? What outcome do those trends have on smaller societies such as Singapore?
