Curriculum Vitae
Born in 1960. Christoph Franz holds a Master of Science in Business Administration and Engineering from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. From 1982 to 1983, he studied General Management and Engineering at the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce, Ecole Centrale de Lyon in France and in 1986, he began his doctoral studies at the Darmstadt Technical University, where he received his Doctorate in Business Administration three years later.
After his graduation, Christoph Franz joined Lufthansa German Airlines, where he was involved in strategic, sales and controlling projects in Germany, France and Turkey. From 1992 to 1994, he served on the staff team around the then Chief Executive Officer Jürgen Weber, which planned, managed and monitored the airline’s turnaround following the upheavals of the Gulf war. In 1994, Christoph Franz changed to Deutsche Bahn AG, Germany’s national rail company, where he held various executive functions during the following nine years, leading to his appointment as Executive Vice President Passenger Services with overall responsibility for some 70,000 employees. Since 2004, Christoph Franz has been Chief Executive Officer of Swiss International Air Lines Ltd.
