Curriculum Vitae
Born in 1950. Jeannot Krecké studied economics, accounting and tax law at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
A member of the Luxembourg Socialist Workers Party (LSAP) for many years, Jeannot Krecké was elected to the town council of Luxembourg-City as well as to the Luxembourg Parliament in 1989. He became treasurer, then Vice-Chairman and, in 1997, Chairman of the Socialist Parliamentary Group. Following the national elections of June 2004, Jeannot Krecké was appointed Minister of the Economy and Foreign Trade as well as Minister of Sports.
Jeannot Krecké was a co-founder and Chairman of the Luxembourg Alzheimer’s Association from 1987 until 1997. He then chaired Alzheimer Europe from 1997 to 2001. Today, he acts as Chairman of the Luxembourg Alzheimer Foundation. An avid sportsman, who had to quit a career as an international soccer player following an injury, he was a member of a sailing crew winning the transatlantic Constitution Race and organised two polar expeditions.
He has received numerous awards such as the Collingwood Prize and the Friedmann Professional Recognition Award of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Furthermore, he was elected to honorary member status in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in 2004.
