Curriculum Vitae
Born in 1942. Claus Raidl received a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration in 1966. Five years later, in 1971, he graduated with the degree Doktor der Handelswissenschaften.
Claus Raidl started his career as an assistant lecturer at the Institute for Applied Social and Economic Research in Vienna in 1970. In the following years, he gained experience in banking and as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), before becoming a consultant to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) for international tax law aspects in multinational enterprises. From 1974 until 1981, he worked for the Austrian insurance company Österreichische Volksfürsorge Allgemeine Versicherungs-AG. In the following year, he was elected member of the Executive Board of Wiener Holding AG. Prior to his engagement as Deputy Chairman and Senior Executive Vice President of voestalpine Stahl AG, he was appointed member of the Executive Board of Österreichische Industrie Holding AG. In 1993, Claus Raidl joined the Executive Board of Austrian Industries AG for one year. In 1991, he assumed his current position as Chief Executive Officer of BÖHLER-UDDEHOLM AG. Since September 2007, he has also been member of the Executive Board of voestalpine AG.
Claus Raidl was a member of the Advisory Board for Economic and Social Aspects until 1982. Furthermore, he is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Vienna Stock Exchange, Donau Allgemeine Versicherungs-Aktiengesellschaft,voestalpine Bahnsysteme GmbH and of several affiliate companies within the BÖHLER-UDDEHOLM group. Since 2006, he is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Science and Technology Austria.
Claus Raidl has published several articles in journals and magazines on current economic affairs, issues of industrial politics, on tax and budget politics matters and on opportunities of Austria as a business location. Furthermore, he has written contributions on educational policy and on autonomy of tertiary institutions of education.
