Curriculum Vitae
Born in 1937. Ernest-Antoine Seillière graduated from the Ecole Nationale d’Administration in Paris.
After having served as a French Diplomat for ten years, Ernest-Antoine Seillère started working closely with Prime Minister Jacques Chaban-Delmas in 1969. Subsequently, he lectured for one year at the Center for International Affairs of Harvard University. In 1976, he joined his family’s firm, WENDEL Group, where has been working since. He managed the sale of the group’s steel manufacturing plants and through further restructuring turned WENDEL into a large investment company. Additionally, he acted as President of the French Business Confederation (MEDEF) from 1997 until 2005, when he was appointed President of the European Business Confederation BUSINESSEUROPE.
Besides his current engagements with BUSINESSEUROPE, he chairs the Supervisory Board of both the WENDEL Group and the Oranje-Nassau Group. Moreover, he is also a member of the Supervisory Board of Bureau Veritas, Edits Holding, Peugeot SA and Hermès International.
He was decorated Chevalier de l’Ordre National de la Légion d’Honneur, Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite as well as Commander of the Order of Orange-Nassau in the Netherlands.
