Curriculum Vitae


Born in 1948. Lothar Steinebach studied law at the University of Mainz, specialising in conflicts of law and comparative law, finishing in 1974 with the First State Examination. In the following three years, he completed his legal education with the Second State Examination. Between 1977 and 1978, he attended a graduate law programme at the University of Michigan, where he received a Master of Laws. Following his studies, he became Assistant Professor at the Institute for International and Comparative Law of the University of Cologne.


Lothar Steinebach started his career with Henkel KGaA as an attorney in the Law Department, in 1980, and moved into finance after his appointment as Corporate Vice President Finance & Controlling in 1995. At Henkel KGaA he was involved in many major transactions, acquisitions and joint ventures involving parties in Europe and overseas. Since 2003, Lothar Steinebach has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of today’s Henkel AG & Co. KGaA. In 2007, he additionally assumed responsibility for information technology, law and purchasing.
