Curriculum Vitae
Born in 1970. Vendeline von Bredow graduated in 1993 with a Diploma from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques, Paris. She also holds a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University, New York, where she cross-registered at the School of Journalism.
She started her professional career in 1995 as an editorial-page writer at the Wall Street Journal Europe in Brussels, where she wrote about politics, business and culture. Later, Vendeline von Bredow worked for Merrill Lynch in London and as London correspondent for Financial Times Deutschland, before joining The Economist in 2000. Prior to assuming her current position as Business Correspondent in London, she served as a finance correspondent and, from 2004 until 2006, as a European business correspondent in Paris. For The Economist, Vendeline von Bredow covers mainly the areas of consumer goods, advertising and branding.
Vendeline von Bredow’s TV appearances include CNN, French and German television as well as the BBC’s World Business Report and other BBC programmes.
In July 2008, Vendeline von Bredow will take a leave of absence of one year from her job at The Economist to write the authorised biography of Giovanni Agnelli.
