general topic of the 31st St. Gallen Symposium was “New Balance of Power”. At the beginning of a new
millennium, old structures appeared to be breaking down in many areas, with new conditions being created.
A constantly fluctuating power relationship is becoming an essential catalyst to far-reaching changes
in many different areas. Who are the new holders of power? On which factors is their influence based?
